My shots at Spreckles Lake were actually shot at High ISO, indicated in the Full Exif Display as GainControl with "Low gain up." Unlike other manufacturers, all with an existing base of AF lenses to support with their new digital SLR designs, Olympus could afford to start fresh.Again, the Olympus 770 SW was fine afterward, there was no fogging of the lens when I brought the camera into the house, and aside from some low grade hissing, the video looked pretty good. The refresh rate on the Olympus 770 SW's display was a little slow and the visual blurred for a split second when I moved the camera to re-compose. "The rep said Olympus simply wasn't able to sell enough of them, presumably because it's a bulkier design than their more popular models. The green box can be moved around the Live View screen; then you press the OK button to zoom in 10x and verify focus.

Read user reviews (35).Even with image stabilization, it's difficult to hold your target and press the Shutter button (especially if you're excited by finding a rare bird perched in your scene). Live LCD preview allows shots from odd angles. Press the OK button in the middle of the Five-way control cluster and suddenly you're in 10x manual focus mode.

So long as potential buyers are aware of these limitations, they can enjoy the truly excellent aspects of the Olympus Stylus 770 SW, and tweak the color somewhat before printing. In bright sunlight, we found that reducing the contrast to -2 in the Normal mode kept shadows from clipping too badly, but highlights were still too strong.The Olympus E-330 is very much a niche camera. If you're shooting RAW or RAW+JPEG, each image can be 17.3MB and 25.6MB each, respectively. The Olympus E-330 is a pretty good SLR. Most pro SLRs use CF, so E-1 owners will already have storage for these new cameras; but consumers who own a digicam that uses xD can also step into the E-510 with less initial cost.

Read user reviews (11). The chief benefit is the ability to manual focus directly off the sensor while zoomed in on a small portion of the image. I had a few problems locating and pressing the Zoom, Mode, Playback, Menu, and Print/share controls because each button is identified only by a small, white painted word or icon. Get past that, however, and you'll find that the E-510 can be customized to do a lot of convenient tricks, like swapping the Function button with the AEL/AFL button for easier autofocus when in Live View mode. The Olympus E-510's ISO 1,600 performance was pretty good, producing somewhat soft images, but with little noise.Grip is fine for the camera only, but is insufficient for added accessories. I think Olympus would agree with me that they already make a great SLR for those who want a no-nonsense camera with interchangeable lenses and great image quality: the Olympus EVOLT E-500.

The SP-550 also has a flexible, high-speed sequential shooting mode, which allows bursts at rates from 1.2 frames-per-second for 7 frames at full resolution, to as rapid as 15 frames-per-second for 20 frames at 1.2 megapixels. Shutter Lag,. 38 mm - 190 mm (5x) zoom lens. On the other hand, I'm no fan of the Olympus menu system. Hot spots appear at high ISO at very specific exposure times (not good for those doing night photography and certainly not astronomy!). You can't do that on the Pentax and Sony SLRs that integrate sensor-shift image stabilization.

At this point we can't comment on image quality, because what we saw wasn't final, but overall mechanical performance was quite good. Olympus Stylus 720 SW. Just click a button onscreen and your image is captured and downloaded to the computer. Add a lens, and the E-3 is hefty, but it's a good heft. Electronic viewfinder with dioptric correction. The Olympus E-510 uses a fixed eye-level pentamirror with a 95% field of view. They both share the 10.0 megapixel image size, Live View, and the basic control and menu structure, but the E-510 has added functionality, a few extra buttons, and body-based image stabilization.

Finally, you still have to close the Olympus E-3's optical viewfinder's shutter when enabling Live View to prevent stray light from affecting the exposure. 38 mm - 380 mm (10x) zoom lens. You can also just trust that the Olympus E-410 will focus properly, press the shutter all the way, and it will usually focus right before it fires.
